GeneIP provides researchers with the ability to find patents and prior art related to a Gene or Protein.

Using GeneCards®, GeneIP extends the search by searching not just for HGNC-approved symbols, but on descriptions, aliases and public identifiers. This provides the researcher with a significant advantage over standard patent and PubMed searches, since patents may be associated with previous gene symbols or its aliases.

GeneIP is currently in alpha stages and only provides patent information from applications submitted to the USPTO between 2002 and 2009.
